There are so many deal sites out there it is hard to know which ones are actually reputable, and which are not. To be honest, I don't do much online shopping because I am one of those people that wants to see things in person before committing to purchasing them. Add in the fact that I hate paying for shipping and I find that more often then not I end up just going to the store. However, one of the few sites I do check out regularly is Zulily.com. I have made several purchases from this site over the years, so I thought it might be fun to do a Zulily review for you all to share my experiences, both the pros and the cons.
The thing that I like best about Zulily is that there are a ton of new products literally every single day. I find it fun to just check in and see what new things they have. I actually prefer to use their iPhone app rather than going to their website, because I think it's easier and it is a really well designed app. Also on the app if you link it to your Paypal, checking out is a one-click process once you get into the cart screen. I also like that they have a wide range of products from clothing, accessories, home decor, children's items, and did I mention the shoes! Not only are the shoes super affordable, but they are also extremely cute and trendy. When I am in need of a shoe, I find that I always think to check Zulily first.
In terms of the quality of the merchandise I would say that for the most part it is well above that of the knock off sites like Romwe, Sammy Dress, She In, etc. I am usually really pleased with the quality of the items I have purchased. It is mostly unbranded, wholesale merchandise but they do also get in some large brand names like Under Armour, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, etc. Each sale only lasts a few days so you'll have a limited window to purchase anything.
While their advertising is geared towards moms you can tell they aim to appeal to a lot of different demos. I say this because there are just so many different types of clothing and accessories on the site ranging from athleasure, boho chic, western or country inspired, vintage inspired, trendy, etc.
Another huge pro of the site is their customer service. Unfortunately Zulily does not allow returns but they do want to make sure you are happy with your purchase. If you are not you can call their customer service and they will work with you to make it right. There was one time that I felt the quality of what I ordered was not what I was expecting. I called their customer service and they were very friendly and accommodating. They made sure I was happy with the resolution.
There are a few cons to ordering from Zulily. The first is it takes a long time to receive your order! I am talking 2 weeks +. Occasionally they have items that are marked as ready to ship that come in quicker, but those are few and far between. Most will take a long time to come in. I avoid buying seasonal items from them, because I worry that I can't rely on them to ship in time.
Also, because the costs are already pretty low you will rarely get free shipping or any additional promo codes. However, one really cool thing about the site is if you buy something you get free shipping for the rest of the day on any additional orders you make. Adding to that if you purchase on the weekend (including Friday) you'll get free shipping on any additional orders for the entire weekend. The shipping cost for a clothing item is typically around $5.95, but add an additional item to your cart and it climbs to $7.95 which I feel is a little steep. Admittedly I already noted that I hate paying for shipping so maybe I am biased, but I do think $7.95 is high especially considering how long it takes to receive the items.
All in all I would say that for this Zulily review I would assign them a grade of A-. When it comes to buying online trust is a huge factor for me which is why I think I am a loyal customer to Zulily. I trust that I am going to get what I was expecting and for a good price, and that if I don't their customer service will make it right. If you don't mind waiting a long time to receive merchandise and paying the shipping rates, I think Zulily is worth checking out.
